SEPA legal framework updated with the information about the Proposal for a Regulation COM(2010) 775 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2010 establishing technical requirements for credit transfers and direct debits in euros and amending Regulation (EC) No 924/2009.

In May-June 2011, Ltd. "Factum" conducted a population survey "Monetary and Banking System in Latvia", where bank account holders were asked a question on SEPA awareness. In a year SEPA awareness indicators have not substantially changed. Majority of respondents (59%) had never heard about those new euro payment instruments, nevertheless it deserves appreciation that 37% of bank account holders had heard about SEPA.

On 12 May 2011 aiming to facilitate secure e-commerce environment in Latvia SEPA Cards Framework Sub-group adopted the recommendation inviting consumers apply for the Latvian banks' gratis service "Secure online payments".

Today the final SEPA core product is put on the European payments market – SEPA direct debits. In Latvia, the most recent SEPA product will be offered by JSC "SEB banka".

The new Regulation (EC) No 924/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 September 2009 on cross-border payments in the Community and repealing Regulation (EC) No 2560/2001 enters into force that shall be applicable from 1 November 2009.
