In May 2010, Ltd. "Factum" conducted a population survey "Monetary and Banking System in Latvia", where bank account holders, comprising 83.8% of Latvia's population in the age group between 15 and 74, were asked a question on SEPA awareness. Majority of respondents (60.9%) had never heard about those new euro payment instruments. It deserves appreciation that shortly after the banks had started offering SEPA products 22.5% of bank account holders had heard about them, 12.7% were aware along general lines, and 1.7% reported themselves as being well-informed. People in the age group between 25 and 34 and company executives are the most informed. Regional feature seems to have comparatively little effect on the responses owing to internet penetration and development of internet-based banking services, for example, the residents of the Riga City make the largest share both in the group of the most-informed respondents and in the group that has not even heard about SEPA.
